Saturday, August 23, 2008 - Individuals lined the curb on Mills Civic Parkway on Saturday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm carrying signs protesting Petland and bringing awareness to passers-by about the animals who suffer in commercial breeding to supply pet stores like Petland their "merchandise."
"These are living creatures," one demonstrator stated, as she stood holding her sign for all to see. "Adult dogs live in cages breeding litter after litter after litter to provide enough 'merchandise' for stores like Petland. The dogs die of horrible complications of repeated mating, alone, and are discarded in worse condition then the trash in your kitchen. It just has to stop!" she continued.
Organizers are considering weekly demonstrations until Petland comes clean with where they get their merchandise, or close down.
