Jane Baldus, 68, died February 18, 2010, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa, (with their loving and kind care) of scleroderma. There will be a visitation at Westover Funeral Home at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, with Memorial Services following at 11 a.m., with Connie Burbank officiating.
Patricia Jane Ryan was born March 1, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Emmett and Mary Alice Ryan. She graduated from Lake City High School and received her degree from Iowa State University, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. On August 18, 1962 she married Bob Baldus in Lake City, Iowa.
Jane's family and grandchildren were the love of her life. She loved her animals and cared for all animals. Jane loved her "Bridge Ladies" as they loved her for forty years. Jane's other loves were bowling, Jeff Gordon and NASCAR Racing, her patio, backyard, butterflies, hummingbirds, ISU, her career with the West Des Moines Nutrition Services, cooking, making Dutch Letters with her granddaughter, Becca, and the no kill animal shelter (Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary and Rescue).
She is survived by her husband Bob; and her four children, daughter, Becky and Herb Jacobus of Overland Park, KS and their daughters, Sara and Emily; son, Rob and Bonnie Baldus of Indianola and their children, Elizabeth, Alec, Isaac and Eric; son, Pat and Dena Baldus of West Des Moines and their children, Becca, Clark, Jenna, and Jason and daughter, Kimberly and Kevin Barker of Nevada and their children Jade and Trinity.
Memorials may be made to Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, PO Box 312, Des Moines, IA 50302.
