|RVAS believes that all life is sacred. Before considering a companion for adoption please remember that this is a lifetime commitment. Companions are not disposable merchandise, but living creatures that rely on your care, kindness and understanding to live happy, healthy lives forever.
Our volunteer staff has over 30 years of expertise working with all types of animals to assist you in selecting the right match for your lifestyle.

Consider adopting from one of our adoption partners. These organizations offer adoption opportunities in their communities and have equally wonderful companions needing a home. Some of these organizations are located in rural Iowa, hours from any major city. Others are city funded animal control shelters, who are choosing adoption over euthanasia, when possible. RVAS partners with these groups to help bring more opportunities to their companions with the hope of saving more lives. We often will feature these animals at our mobile adoptions, as well as, help them with home visits, meet and greets and more...
For your convenience we have provided a list of shelters & rescues for quick reference. For a complete list of licensed shelters and rescues in Iowa visit the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
